MOOSE SIGHTING!! Finally!

Temps got a little warmer today, it supposedly got up to 41. Unfortunately, it will dip way below freezing tonight and ice it all over again. When we left for our walk about 4:40, we decided to go down to Ship Creek. We visited the Ulu Factory, where they make those crescent-shaped knives used by the Native Alaskans to skin and work the hides of animals. It was a pretty nice gift shop with lots of local wares but all we bought was a Dr. Pepper!
We walked behind the store toward the banks of Ship Creek. Incredibly deep snow prevented us from getting right to the edge of the creek. We continued to walk along the creek in search of a good photo op. Eventually, we got a great opportunity. There were 2 moose eating from trees across the creek from us. But, as fate would have it, the battery on the camera decided to die at that point. We got about 3 shots before it gave out altogether. The photos aren't up to our usual standards, but you can see that it is a moose. We will put a new battery in the camera and head out again tomorrow.

  1. Finally! A moose. Discovery Channel claims they are everywhere, ha! It is dreary and chilly down here, but I am sure warm in comparison to up there. I really need some sun!
