Tuesday, March 2nd

Greg wasn't able to come home for lunch today because he was across town at a meeting at the US Fish and Wildlife building. Little warmer today, about 35. We are now up to about 10 1/2 hours of daylight per day. When he got home, we walked to the Post Office and checked our mail. Thanks to all for the cards. We walked to Polar Bear Gifts to get more postcards to send to friends and family. I made Greg walk around inside the entire 5th Avenue Mall. It is a neat 5 story mall with Nordstrom and JC Penney as its anchor stores. We ate upstairs in the food court. After a busy, tiring last few days at Fur Rondy, we decided to come home and crash early. Yeah, we are in bed at 11 o'clock. Early for us. We've got to recoup, the Iditarod race begins Saturday.

There is a picture today that shows exactly how big this state is. The state outline is superimposed over a map of the US. Alaska is home to 39 mountain ranges, 6 of these ranges are visible from spots around Anchorage. It has 30,000 miles of coastline, more than the lower 48 states combined. There are around 100,000 glaciers in Alaska. This is one awe-inspiring place!

  3. Nope, no job yet. I'm just enjoying being a tourist. I'm like Eloise in those books who lives in the hotel and orders room service. Well, kinda. I have to go downstairs for the breakfast bar.
