Monday, March 1st

Poor Greg. He had to go back to work this morning. He only had to walk across the street. He now works for the Bureau of Land Management here in Anchorage. He came home for lunch for a gourmet peanut butter and jelly sandwich. Bread, jelly, and peanut butter were all Great Value Brand- his favorite- the tightwad.

Today was the first day it got above freezing since I've been here. It melted a lot of ice and snow, but that just means it will refreeze tonight.

After work, we rode the bus out to my new favorite store. Title Wave books. This place has about 1/2 million used books!! It was incredible. They take trades and everything. It is well organized and you could wander the aisles for days. You could spend hours just looking through the Alaska section. We didn't even have time to go in the children's area. That is a huge connected part that was probably an adjoining business at one time.

Tried to go to the Bear Tooth Grill. It has a movie cinema connected to it. The line was too long so we had to settle for a burger at Burger King. We slipped and slid back across the parking lot to wait for the bus. While waiting for the bus at Spenard and Northern Lights Boulevard, we were approached by a very stoned homeless man. He dubbed us his instant friends. He wanted us to take him to Canada. He had cash- at least 6 dollars. Dude, we're just going downtown. When we got off the bus we made sure he made it back to the depot fearing that he would freeze to death otherwise. After our good deed we came home tired, happy, and with 4 new books!
