Monday, March 15th

I could hear the splashing from the street by lunch today. Yeah, that must mean it is warmer outside and the snow is beginning to melt. By the time we walked to the Post Office it was 38 degrees. Knowing the sun would not set until after 8, we decided to take the bus out to Wal-Mart. Greg needed some Great Value peppermints as he is replacing a few cigarettes per day with peppermint candy. The bag would have been $1.00 in Tennessee, here it is $1.08- but remember NO TAX! So basically, they are about the same in price. Other things, however, are a bit more expensive. After a very short Wal-Mart run, we walked across the street to the Carr's Grocery Store. Here we got a few boxes of noodles and essentials.

Next stop, Taco King! This is one of my favorite places to eat. Greg had the daily special, 2 enchiladas w/ rice and beans and a Coke for $6.95. I had the Burrito Grande or something, w/rice and beans for $7.50. They both were yummy. They have a little area set up, like a salad bar, with pico de gallo, sour cream, jalapenos, 2 red salsas, green salsa, etc. You can go up and jazz up anything by adding these extras to it.

We had to only walk across the street to the bus stop. The bus wouldn't arrive for another 45 minutes. Since we were already on A Street, we decided to just start walking toward home. We figured that if we got tired we would stop at the next bus stop and wait. There was an area beside the road that had been plowed just about wide enough for a four-wheeler. Greg had heard that this was a ski trail. We walked the ski trail for about a mile. It then went into a beautiful forest area and we instantly went on moose patrol. You were in the middle of acres of spruce trees with a creek flowing beside the trail. This was an awesome place, yet no moose! Feeling invigorated, even carrying 2 bags of groceries, we walked the rest of the way home. The distance from the Taco King to home was about 1.6 miles. When we were opening the door to the hotel, the bus pulled up at the stop. We made pretty good time for a couple of 30+ year olds!

  1. 30+?? Really now, I know better. You probably walked off all of your Taco King and all the shivering has probably dropped a few pounds off of you! I guess you don't have to worry about your food spoiling on the trek home! Are you still in the hotel?
