Monday, April 5th

It was a very overcast day. The temperature only got to about 39. Just climbing above freezing during the day has begun to melt a lot of the snow on the streets. One of the pictures shows a street free of snow from the sidewalks and roadway. Got another shot of one of the beautiful murals on the side of a building. The building is one of the many fur businesses up here. Trapping and wearing furs is still a common tradition here. It is also big business. Many Natives rely on selling furs for a large part of their income. All parts of the furs are used. Small remnants of furs are used to make dolls, souvenirs, toys, gloves, and accessories. As usual, the Natives are resourceful when using natural resources. All parts are used, nothing goes to waste.
