On the first Friday of each month, the museum is free from 6pm to 9pm. It was most excellent. The second floor houses exhibits of all the native tribes of Alaska. There are some impressive videos, picture, and artifacts. In another area, you can see the history of Alaska. There are dwelling reproductions such as cabins, Quonset huts, mining camps, earthen homes, and much more. We were there about 2 hours and scarcely glimpsed all there was to offer. We plan on going back each month and taking a more in-depth look at it all. We will definitely go in March because a woolly mammoth exhibit begins. Cool. After the museum trip, we had a nice dinner and wandered home. I worked on a lengthy paper for my online degree (my 2nd Master's!) and so we hung around the house the rest of the weekend. We did make it to the mall Saturday night so I could get new shoes. And I also made my first purchase at Nordstrom's. Can't believe I held out a whole year!
I just found your blog! Loving the pictures! Such a beautiful place!
