Be sure to click on the pictures to make them larger.
Saturday morning while I was making breakfast, Greg happened to notice a group of birds in a mountain ash tree.

He grabbed the binoculars and identified them as Bohemian Waxwings.
He had been waiting  a year to get a chance to photograph them again.

He quickly got dressed, grabbed the camera, and checked the tree again only to realize they were gone! Thinking that they may still be near, he headed out anyway.
Before getting a block away from the apartment, he found them again in another mountain ash tree.

He got busy snapping pictures- taking 107 pictures! Here are some of the better photos.

These birds travel in nomadic groups and breed in the northernmost coniferous forests of Europe, Asia, and western North America.

Their diet consists mainly of berries.
I know this little guy isn't a waxwing, but he was just too cute to leave out!

  2. Yes, I agree. I can't say I have ever seen more beautiful waxwing pictures. They are such striking birds. What kind of camera do you use and about how much do they cost? Do you take pictures for a living?
